2007 BOMBER SPECIFICATIONS
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The following specifications have been prepared by Rocky Top Raceway, Inc. as guidelines for the construction of Bomber. In conjunction, no warranty of safety is expressed or implied as a result of this publication of rules. These rules are intended as guide and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators, or others. Anything not covered by these specifications should de approved by the various track officials and be placed in writing. Continuous developments in auto racing and technology may necessitate changes in these specifications. However, it is our intent to enforce and police these rules throughout the 2007 season. If a change is necessitated, technical bulletins will be prepared and edited in advance.
NOTICE: ALL RULES ARE RACE READY
Track officials have the final say in determining the eligibility of all participants.

BODY
Any American made steel production body, passenger car (1960-1992) No sub-compact such as Vega, Pinto, etc.
All doors must be bolted or welded shut.
No chopping, shortening, or cutting on body allowed; except for tire clearance only.
May remove front inner fenders.
Sheet metal for sides to replace damaged doors or quarters. NO ALUMINUM.
6" Spoiler Allowed all makes.

CHASSIS/FRAME
Must be full frame. Uni-body may be used but must be tied together with 2” x 3” minimum tubing.
108” wheel base minimum.
There must be a lifting hook securely attached to the frame at both the front and rear of vehicle. Lifting hook must be easily accessible by tow truck operator.
No radios.


BUMPERS
Must be stock
Must be welded to frame.

INTERIOR
Bracing bars may extend forward or rearward through firewalls for safety purposes only and welded to the back of the bumpers and frame.
Interior must be gutted completely.
Front and rear firewalls must be completely covered with sheet metal.
Approved racing seat only. Must be properly framed and securely mounted to roll cage. No factory buckets of any type and must be mounted in stock location – 3” in front of rear door opening.
No mirrors.
Must have 4 point design roll cage, 1 ¾” O.D. minimum, mild steel.
Minimum 3 door bar driver side and 2 door bar passenger side.

ENGINE
Must be stock appearing.
Must be in stock location - No Exceptions!
Cast iron heads and blocks.
GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc only. Except rear ends.
Stock battery ignition only. No dual point distributor. No magnetos.
No electric fuel pumps.
Headers are permitted.
No frame cut out to clear fuel pump.
Any intake will be Legal.


CARBURETORS
4412 carburetor (Holley ONLY) No casting modifications will be legal.

BRAKES

Must have 4 wheel brakes.
Drum or disc allowed.

REAREND

Passenger car or ½ on truck only.
Posi-track OK. Rear ends may be locked.
Full Floaters Allowed.

TRANSMISSION
Standard or automatic transmission of production type. ( Must have torque converter).
Transmission must have 1 forward and reverse in working order
Clutch must be in working order
No buttons or direct drive.

WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel wheels only.
Racing type wheels allowed.
Any 8 inch tire and 8 inch wheel allowed.
Reinforced right front wheel.
1” Hex lugs REQUIRED.
Bead Lock – Allowed on all four wheels.

SUSPENSION

All suspension and steering components must remain stock as per car.
No shortening or lengthen of A-arms.
Tube A-arms allowed.
Steering – Quickner Allowed.
Will allow spring cups and open spring.

SAFETY
2 ½ pound dry chemical fire extinguisher with gauge, charged, located within easy reach of the driver and securely mounted. NO TAPE
Fuel cell mandatory. Must be properly mounted in trunk area.
Snell 85 helmet required.
5 pt. Safety harness required. 3” lap belt and shoulder harness w/aircraft quick release type latch. NO passenger car belts of any type. Must be bolted to roll cage w/no less than 7/16 bolt.
Drive shaft loop is required and must be constructed of at least ¼” by 2” steel and should be mounted no more than 6” back from front of drive shaft. ¼” chain, or larger, can be in place of steel strap.
Battery location optional. If mounted in driver compartment must be enclosed and securely mounted in marine type box.
All glass, chrome, interior, and exterior trim must be removed.
Fire resistant driver uniform mandatory. Fire resistant gloves highly recommended. Flame resistant coveralls are not permitted.
Approved racing seat with appropriate tubular framing only. No factory production type seats of any kind.
Drive shaft must be painted white.

APPEARANCE
All cars should be neatly painted w/numbers painted 18” high on sides and 24” high on roof, and all numbers to be 3” thick.
All cars must be neat in appearance, painted to look like a racecar and be neatly lettered. Badly wrecked cars must be straightened.
