| Exciting changes coming to Rocky Top in 2007
By: T. J. Layne COAL GROVE, OHIO-After coming off of a successful 2006 season, the Rocky Top Raceway has already announced new improvements which should make for an incredible 2007 season. One of the big improvements for the fans will be an addition of an arcade building in the general admission section. The arcade building will be popular among young race fans as in addition to watching the races, they can now play arcade games along with pool and air hockey. Another big improvement will be an increase in payouts for the Late Model and Modified divisions. The payouts will be in effect for at least the first month or so of the season and if the support is good, they will remain in effect for the entire season. All 2007 purses will be guaranteed though as if a change would have to be made, it would be announced prior to race day. The Late Model payout will remain the same for positions 1-7 as the eight position is increased to $220, ninth increased to $215, and tenth increased to $210. The 11th-20th positions will be doubled to $200, making it $200 to start. The Modified payout will remain the same for positions 1-10 as the 11th-20th positions will be increased to $75. If anybody has any questions or feedback, email us at rockytopraceway@yahoo.com. A new fourth class has also been added for the 2007 season. The Mod Lite division will start off being ran on a once a month basis. Mod Lites appear like mini-Modifieds with motorcycle engines and really put on some great racing. More information such as the exact dates the Mod Lites will be running will be announced when the schedule is fully released in mid-January. It has already been announced that the 2007 season will start with a Test N Tune on Saturday, April 14th and Opening Night will be on Friday, April 20th. Another change will be the new official Rocky Top Raceway website which will be www.rockytopraceway.net. The website should be available online shortly. |
